FAQ
I am trying to set up a user mailing list for one of my free software
projects.

At first sight, everything seems to work, you can send mail, get confirmation
mails etc.. BUT NO !!!

Responses to confirmation mails never trigger the welcome message, and users
can't get registered...

I did manage to register once, then I could not unregister: each time, I was
receiving the confirmation mail, answered, got the final mail saying it was
ok, but my mail was still on the list !!!

BTW, here is what fills may /var/log/mailman/errors... (bin/check_perms
returned some kind of bad perms to the log files which is now fixed and I
restarted the mailman service.. still get the errors)

( of course, any hint on how to fix this erratic behavour or where to search
for an answer would be greatly apreciated ;o)

the list is at http://www.pcsc-perl.net/mailman/listinfo if you want tou play
around with registration from the web and from the mail
(pcsc-perl-users at pcsc-perl.net)

var log mailman errors follow:

Hem... well I fixed my problem though I could not really explain what happened

just de-installed the package, re-installed it...

the only stuf I chenged was creating the list manually with "# newlist
pcsc-perl-users mail" instead of using the web front-end.

Things are working as expected now. I guess that it was a filesystem right
problem because I am using a 'secure' version of mandrake... if 'secure'
    means something ;o) anyway...

This is my guess because check_perms returns a LOT of errors (more than a
thousand). This time I had not run it with -f and it seems to work anyway.

well I just hope these comments may help a few other people reading the
    archive.

bye bye! and thanx for your reading :o)
