FAQ
Hello

I get the following error from the cron script accessing the news server
but I can telnet to port 119. Any ideas? I do not have direct access to
the news host.

Your "cron" job on maillists.nac.uci.edu
/usr/local/bin/python -S /home/users/mailman/cron/gate_news

produced the following output:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/home/users/mailman/cron/gate_news", line 222, in ?
main()
File "/home/users/mailman/cron/gate_news", line 203, in main

File "/home/users/mailman/cron/gate_news", line 148, in process_lists
conn, first, last = open_newsgroup(mlist)
File "/home/users/mailman/cron/gate_news", line 75, in open_newsgroup
password=mm_cfg.NNTP_PASSWORD)
File "/home/users/mailman/Mailman/pythonlib/nntplib.py", line 111, in
__init__
self.sock.connect((self.host, self.port))
socket.error: (146, 'Connection refused')

    The connection is being refused because the username/password used are
    incorrect (or not accepted). If it doesn't require a username/password
    to post then remove them from the config file:
    ~mailman/Mailman/mm_cfg.py
