Are you thinking of something like having the build go as far as
creating the errors.html file, and stopping at that point?

Description:
------------
Would be nice to have an option to VALIDATE the PHP documentation
quality, instead of rendering the HTML.

Something like this:

phpdoc —validate .

And the result of such call will be a report of problems/defects found
in
the documentation. This mechanism would be very useful when using
automated building (with PHING, for example).
