Don't you mean System_Daemon::setOption('appRunAsGID', 0); ?

While running the daemon script initially with --write-initd, I
encounter fatal php
error in theline which calls setOption()

I installed the System_Daemon package via pear. This error occurrecd
Then uninstalled from the pear, downloaded from the git repo, and
included
the Daemon.php from its extracted location. Same error still.

I have about a year older version up and running on this same server.

Test script:
---------------
setOption('appRunAsGID', 0); // set to root

Expected result:
----------------
sucessfully written startup script: %s

Actual result:
--------------
# PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function setOption() in
/data/connections/sms_sender_daemon.php on line 121

    Thank you for the very quick response.
    The example code I was using, indeed had the line
    "setOption('appRunAsGID', 0);"

    I revisited the GitHub and checked the example files again and the code
    surrounding the init process are different now.
    I will use the new examples as a basis of my daemon script.
