Validation test "email.phpt" failed with:
Compilation failed: unrecognized character after (? at offset 63 in
Validate.php on line 428.

The offending syntax called out by the message above is (?2)
(I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean--I can't find such a thing in
the documentation)
Guessing that you meant (?(2)) fixes the problem and makes the
validation test pass.
