Please do not submit the same bug more than once. An existing
bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel
that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same. Because of this, we hope you add your comments
to the existing bug instead.

Thank you for your interest in PEAR.

A search for test.com will return the following:

To single out one record, look it up with "xxx", where xxx is one of
of the records displayed above. If the records are the same, look them
with "=xxx" to receive a full display for each record.

A query with =test.com will return the following:

Unable to open socket

Test script:

//pear install Net_Whois-1.0.3
if ($q) {
require_once 'Net/Whois.php';
$whois = new Net_Whois;
$data = $whois->query($q);
$data = htmlspecialchars($data);
echo "<pre>$data</pre>";

Expected result:
Expected the result for test.com

Actual result:
You'll see "Unable to open socket"...
