FAQ
Hi!

I patched IO-Socket-INET6:

http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/web-cpan/IO-Socket-INET6/trunk/

This is because it now generates several warnings and failed tests on
Mandriva cooker and on other platforms:

* http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=36889

* http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=36952

Now I'd like my modifications to be integrated into the CPAN version.
However, it's been unmaintained for over three years, and the author
hasn't maintained any other modules since its latest release. There
are several bugs on rt.cpan.org which were not taken care of.

Rafael, if you're still there, please pull my modifications from the
Subversion repository and upload them as a new module. I can also give
you permissions to commit there once you have registered with
http://developer.berlios.de/ . Alternatively, please give me a
co-maintainer status for IO-Socket-INET6.

Regards,

Shlomi Fish

    I patched IO-Socket-INET6:
    In the AUTHOR section of the documentation, it says:

    "This program is based on IO::Socket::INET by Graham Barr
    <gbarr@pobox.com> and currently maintained by the Perl Porters."

    So, you should send your patches to p5p. Also, if you expect anyone in
    particular to get your email, you should send it to them too. I didn't
    see that you copied Rafael Martinez Torres on this message.

    Good luck,

    IO::Socket::INET is now a core module, but IO::Socket::INET6 (note the "6")
    which was forked from it, is not. The changes I've made to the core ::INET6
    code are not relevant to I-S-INET. Perhaps p5p would be interested in
    back-ported changes to the test, but this is another issue altogether.

    Actually, I did. rafael.martinez@novagnet.com was on the CC address to my
    original message and this one (but not on yours from some reason).
    Good luck,
    Thanks.
