FAQ
Dear MySQL++,

I am trying a new installation. But I get a failure when I run 'automake':

configure.in:11: your implementation of AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE comes from an
configure.in:11: old Automake version. You should recreate aclocal.m4
configure.in:11: with aclocal and run automake again.

appear in AM_CONDITIONAL
/usr/local/share/automake-1.8/am/depend2.am: AMDEP does not appear in
AM_CONDITIONAL

I have the very latest 'automake' version 1.8.2.

I have MySQL 4.0.18, gcc 3.3.2 and autoconf 2.59 on a Linux box.

I tried the suggested running 'aclocal', but this also failed with:

aclocal: configure.in: 17: macro `AM_PROG_LIBTOOL' not found in library

Can any person suggest a way to continue?

Regards, Ben.

    though im no expert, you may want to run
    libtoolize --force
    then aclocal

    you can also find depcomp in your automake directory,
    you should probably copy it into your source dir. i'm
    not sure those are fatal errors either

    Patrick,

    Thanks for the advice. I tried this and got:
    "You should update your `ac local.m4' by running ac local."
    Which is sort of recursive, as 'ac local' doen't work on my SuSE box.

    However, you mension that this is not a terminal error. So I tried the:

    automake
    autoconf
    ./configure
    make

    But the make terminates almost straight away with:

    make[2]: Entering directory `/home/ben/mysql++-1.7.9/sqlplusint'
    Makefile:268: *** missing separator. Stop.
    make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/ben/mysql++-1.7.9/sqlplusint'
    make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
    make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/ben/mysql++-1.7.9'
    make: *** [all] Error 2

    Where line 268 reads:

    @AMDEP_TRUE@@am__include@ @am__quote@./$(DEPDIR)/coldata.Plo@am__quote@

    Which looks like (make be) there are still m4 variables in the file.

    The problem I seem to have is that automake will not work on my SuSE
    box. This produces a Makefile? Can I kindly ask if anybody here has a
    Makefile for a SuSE Linux box which they can donate to me?

    Regards,

    Ben Clewett.

    Don't run automake/ conf.

    Start from a fresh tarball and just run configure, make.
