FAQ
Puts and deletes can no longer be applied to the same row with the new client API
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key: HBASE-2116
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-2116
Project: Hadoop HBase
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: client
Affects Versions: 0.20.2
Reporter: Bassam Tabbara
Fix For: 0.21.0

As of HBASE-1304, it seems like one can no longer apply puts and deletes to the same row, and more importantly in the same transaction. Obviously one could use rowLocks but this seems heavy handed for this. Also, it seems that this limitation is solely due to the new API factoring.

Thanks for filing the issue. This has come up before (Yes it was hbase-1304 that did this).

Put and Delete should have common ancestor and we should add at least a batch Put+Delete to HTable.

Would be grand too if going from a Result to a Put were easier than copying their guts.
