FAQ
Hello all,

I'm wondering if the NameNode is capable of disabling access to files based on a dynamically-set variable ?

For example:

Beginning execution: Access ON for File1, File2, File3 --ie. datanodes can load these files for reading
Mid execution: Access ON for File1, Access OFF: File2, File3 -- ie. datanodes can not seek those OFF files
End of execution: Access ON for File1, File2, File3

So if a data node is asking for File2 in Mid-Execution then the NameNode can "throw and exception" or skip the request.

If this is still vague, is there a way to skip reading a specific disk-block ?

Thanks,

Maha
