    You think this the way to go Edward? Don't you want to specify a format for the output file (html|txt|binary|etc). You added formatting as command-line option to the shell... making it so you could do: "$ echo 'SELECT * FROM ... '| ./bin/hbase shell --format=SOME_FORMAT > outputfile'. Isn't that sufficient? (How does mysql do this? Or how does mysql read into current mysql shell a list of commands to run? I don't remember ...)

    IMO, i don't think it is necessary thing. (It was added by inchul)
    But, I believe the dynamic capabilities will be provided flexible and adaptable to changing needs without hard-code changes.

    Are you for or against my opinion?

    Your opinion aligns w/ mine it seems. You say, "IMO, I don't think it is a necessary thing." I agree. It complicates the SELECT (which is already complex) espeically when you start adding output formats. There is already an sql-like means of specifying formats by passing --format when you invoke the shell. I say, lets just use it rather than have to support file formats in two places. Any chance of having 'INTO OUTFILE' removed?
