FAQ
Hi folks,

I am using storm-0.9.0-wip12 to deploy a topology. In local mode, I see the
apache log4j output into eclipse console. But in cluster mode, the worker
log files are not created, and I could not figure out where the log
statements are written. Any thoughts?

The supervisor, nimbus and ui logs are created and they seem to be logging
just fine. These log files appear in the logs/ directory of the unzipped
storm-0.9.0-wip12.zip release.

I set topology.debug: true in the storm.yaml file.

Did you check the logs directory of all the storm cluster machines?

Does the supervisor log clearly say Launching the worker ...?

Yes, I checked the directory in both machines - I am using two machines.
The supervisor logs show that the workers launch successfully. The BUI also
indicates that the the tuples are processed just fine.

we can see the workers are launched (along with their log names) in the
    supervisor log: 2013-01-07 15:59:43 b.s.d.supervisor [INFO] Launching
worker with command: java -server -Xmx256m
    -Djava.library.path=/usr/local/lib:/opt/local/lib:/usr/lib
    -Dlogfile.name=worker-6703.log
    -Dstorm.home=/home/affective/Downloads/storm-0.9.0-wip12

In addition, the bolts are processing data (we can see this in the UI) and
our job completes, but still no worker logs are created. Any guesses as to
    what is wrong ?

    Thanks,

    Yadid
