FAQ
Good Afternoon!

I have custom-modules that I created on MOM. I have no issues with MOM
synching these with other minions, but when it comes to syncing with a
syndic, I have issues

What am I missing.

From MOM, I can ping the syndic and it's children:

./salt.sh -G "datacenter:QIDC" test.ping

MOM does pass –G datacenter:QIDC commands down to underlings. But why does
the syndic not sync? It’s kind of its main purpose.

I created the folder on MOM called _modules under <salt-home>/srv/salt

The minions pick this up, but the syndic does not.

I even tried running the synch command using the grain option, but that has
no +ve effect.

Any assistance is appreciated

Thanks!
Chris

    Good Afternoon!

    Update on this...

What is the pre-step from the syndic (ie. it have to copy the srv folder
    from mom to lower-master)
Add debugging on syndic to see what is happening when we run the
    sync_modules command - I only see this:
    [DEBUG ] Sending event - data = {'_stamp': '2015-02-18T14:12:28.896874',

Not actually seeing the files (like foo.py - an eg. custom-module)

is the sub-master getting the modules? No.

Has anyone used a syndic implementation? I understand it to be a command
forwarder (like ping, or any other cli), but does it have a means to
transfer files between mom and it's minions?
