    Tell us /exactly/ what you've done. What do you mean by "found the
    files" (which files? where?) and what "the applications" are and how you
    ran them.

    Uh... If you assumed you'd find some sort of IDE or a built-int GUI
    text editor, then there are none. Go is shipped as a set of
    command-line tools (hence intended to be called from an already opened
    console window). I'm not sure why you did not decide to follow [1]
    which makes this rather clear but oh well.

    There are some IDEs and text editors which integrate well with Go.
    I can name Eclipse, Vim, Emacs and Sublime Text.
