b.. Earcons and TTS pitch changes to indicate text formatting
c.. Automatic scrolling of lists during linear navigation

Deos this should be available also when navigating menus?
I have to change the screen manually in the applications menu of my phone, it does not scroll automatically... is this expected?

a.. Spells text replacements after speaking them
b.. Moved granularity selection to the local context menu
c.. Gestures previously used for cycling reading granularity can be used to jump to the first or last item on screen

will this gesture work also for first/last item in a text field?
that would be more usefull I think but I am not able to make it work for now...

a.. Collapsed speech from some repeated characters
b.. Added option under "Developer settings" for determining how TalkBack should resume from suspend

c.. Stability improvements to the explore by touch tutorial
         d.. Bug fixes

But, install wasn't working, and the error I was receiving when I tried
installing was a zip related error.

Turned out I had a corrupted download. So, the zip error was correct
inasmuch as the integrity of the archive had been compromised. The
reason it had been compromised turned out to be the download, not the
    packing upstream.

Woot, will try this soon. Does this fix the bug that cause talkback to stop speaking if continuous reading makes the screen scroll, or will we have to wait for 4.3 for that?

I think the only thing I don't like is I used the granularity thing a lot
especally in text messages when I needed to read something charactor by
charactor, however I will just have to memorize the new place it is.

But Jarrod it is easy to use this feature this way, then the earlier
one, because a lot of time in apps, where you have keyboard turned on
or other buttons in between, it was little uncomfortable to make the
    gesture. Just my personal opinion.

So wait, now you have to bring up a menu to read by character rather

Oh, I wasn't actually trying to get on your case about it, but it
sounds like and I may be wrong, instead of the updown to change
granularity one would have to make the gesture for the gcm, then
select it then try to read by character. Is that correct? It just
seems like a lot to do if for example you only wanted to check the
    spelling of a word.

Agreed. I think granularity is a gesture that needs to remain on the
main screen. Maybe use a different one though?
A lot of the other improvements sound quite promising though and I'm
    eager to try them out.

    Best regards,

Yeah Tabitha, your understanding of the issue is correct. When you do
the gesture for local context menu (up then right), you get options
such as character granularity, word granularity, default granularity
and like or light (don't know) granularity.

This is not convenient either. Because even if you are navigating by
character for instance, and if some other item receives the focus,
then the navigation does not work. So drawing the gesture itself
    becomes teadious.

Even the text formatting changes as far as I can see, produces just
the sound for different text may be separated by a punctuation.
Support for reading punctuation would be more useful then the sound.
Sound should only be produced for teadious things like bold,
    underlining, justifying, etc.

    Hi Tabitha,
Haven't installed it yet but that's what it sounds like to me as well. I never did like those circle menus. This heightens my fear of them putting web navigation in this menu. I tend to select an element to move by, then I want to read things under said element witch is why that scares me. That's going to be too much work just to do something that should be simple if that happens.
Just wait until we have to activate the context menu to move to next or previous items on screen. lol kidding.

Yes, I did exaggerate a bit. It's just that the context menu seems a bit slow to me. It is a different way of doing things and I don't mind them for TalkBack settings, but I do for navigation.

What does it read? Mine doesn't read unless I touch the screen too far away from the proximity sensor. I've been trying to reproduce it so I could create a bug or star an existing one.

IMO it would be a good idea if they just disabled continuous reading while
in the phone app, or at least while it has the phone call screen up.

    Hello, Lucy,
Pinching is used by some aps, so we wouldn't want to interfere with
that. Scrubbing left-right/right-left is for jumping one page
    forward/backward. Steve brought up swiping up/down, which I don't

    Hello, Lucy,
Pinching is used by some aps, so we wouldn't want to interfere with
that. Scrubbing left-right/right-left is for jumping one page
    forward/backward. Steve brought up swiping up/down, which I don't
    believe is used and is currently equivalent to swiping left/right;
perhaps this could be used for some purpose.

Think for one minute lucio, they have been patented by apple so if android
tries to copying we will be incourt with laws suits about this is their
patent and that’s this guys patent.thats the main sisue about all of this
stuff. The patent issues need ot be resolved things like cross licensed and
    then everything will be fine.

Left than right moves through listviews a page at a time.
Perhaps not as necessary with autoscrolling.

    Hi,

I had a similar problem with Talkback talking when I would answer a phone
    call.
Some of the helpful users in this group helped me determine that I had the
shake to start continuous reading setting enabled in the Talkback settings.
When I disabled this the symptomswent away. <smile>

I have recently started to hear multiple voices for text notifications.
It's like the sender name is announced in one voice and the message is
    reade in another voice...
I'm not sure if this is due to the Talkback beta or the recent Verizon /
    Samsung SIII upgrade.
More on that in another message <smile>

For me the biggest feature I want to Spetter quick navigation gestures. This whole having to going to LeMenu just to Select a heading is just not efficient. I also feel that the granularity should be put back to what it was. Perhaps two finger swipes can be for quick navigation and one finger swipes for the granularity. Just my thoughts. Thanks,

Well, I can tell you that shake for continuous reading is disabled on my
Nexus 4, and it will still chatter when a call is connected.

It will read Caller ID data, including the phone number after
connecting. If I'm lucky, my callee doesn't answer before this chatter
    ends.

However, I must be extra careful not to allow my cheek to brush the
surface of the phone, else it will start chattering up a storm.

This does not give people a good impression of the technology I'm using,
though I don't have funny stories to share like some of you!

I'm not sure what the solution needs to be, because there are clearly
situations where you want Talkback active during a call, e.g. to enable
the Dialpad and voice digits as you navigate an automated menu system.

yes, the proximity sensor will silence the speech. That requires me to
pull the phone earpiece away from my ear, though--not a great way to run
a conversation to be pulling away from what my party is saying.

If you tell talkback to silence when the screen off, then when you press
your cheek against the screen the proximity sensor should turn it off, so
your cheek doesn't press buttons, and that should also silence the speech.

yes, the proximity sensor will silence the speech. That requires me to
pull the phone earpiece away from my ear, though--not a great way to run
a conversation to be pulling away from what my party is saying.

It will read Caller ID data, including the phone number after
connecting. If I'm lucky, my callee doesn't answer before this chatter
    ends.

However, I must be extra careful not to allow my cheek to brush the
surface of the phone, else it will start chattering up a storm.

This does not give people a good impression of the technology I'm
    using,

I'm not sure what the solution needs to be, because there are clearly
situations where you want Talkback active during a call, e.g. to enable
the Dialpad and voice digits as you navigate an automated menu system.

Another thing that I've noticed is that it doesn't play sound when a
character has been inserted, and other sounds for some reason.
I'm totally not informed, is eyes-free the company that creates full
versions of talkback or just betas?

    Kind regards

If you tell talkback to silence when the screen off, then when you press
your cheek against the screen the proximity sensor should turn it off, so
your cheek doesn't press buttons, and that should also silence the speech.
