FAQ
Hi,
We are trying to install the latest GI on a Solaris 10 box. During the
linking stages of the install it threw errors so we tried re-linking,
but that has not helped.

This is what I see in the log:

Linking OSM Discovery utility (kfod)
rm -f /oragrid/product/11.2.0/rdbms/lib/kfod

.
. (lots of libraries here)
.
Undefined first referenced

ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to

Linking Oracle
rm -f /oragrid/product/11.2.0/rdbms/lib/oracle
.

ld: warning: symbol `_start' has differing types:

e=OBJT);

/oragrid/product/11.2.0/lib//libserver11.a(kfnp.o)
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to
/oragrid/product/11.2.0/rdbms/lib/oracle

As far as I can tell the hardware set-up is correct.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks
Pete

What version of Solaris are you on? I think you need to be at least 10/08. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

    All,
So we tried it again, having changed the config for the oragrid
account, so that it is in the correct project and this time it worked!
Thanks to all who replied, I have spent the last few years working
with Linux versions and it helped to get a kick start back into the
    world of Solaris.

    Regards
    Pete
