FAQ
you are correct... this is one of the groses flaws of standby/dataguard in
Oracle... it's even worse when you are using RAC on ASM, since the job NEEDS
to be an RMAN job and it cannot be a regular shell script to delete the
files and crosscheck.

Nevermind. I think I figured it out. You have to setup an RMAN job on
the standby site and backup the archivelogs, right? I tried connecting the
standby to a RMAN catalog, but that doesnt work, so you have to use RMAN
without a catalog.

*Subject:* Standby Database Archivelogs Backup/Removal?

Ok, so I have a physical standby database that Im transferring logs to via
LGWR. How do I remove the logs *at *the standby site after theyve been
applied?

I was under the impression that when I backed up the files on the primary,
the archivelogs would be removed from the standby THINKING that through, I
realized that didnt make any sense after my remote archivelog destination
filled up. Doh.

Thanks!
