Could you please suggest me how to find or conclude my server has
single/Core CPU type at the earliest?
Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

I used this command in solaris, but could not figure out the CPU type:

/usr/platform/sun4u//sbin/prtdiag -v

This is termed as Single CPU type

This seems to be CORE

    Ann,

    You can use psrinfo for this:

    $ psrinfo -pv
    The physical processor has 2 virtual processors (0 16)
    UltraSPARC-IV (portid 0 impl 0x18 ver 0x31 clock 1350 MHz)
    The physical processor has 2 virtual processors (2 18)
    UltraSPARC-IV (portid 2 impl 0x18 ver 0x31 clock 1350 MHz)

    I know it is available in solaris 10, not sure about prior versions.

    As someone mentioned, psrinfo -vp will work on Solaris 10.

    Another way to tell is to know what the processors have by the type. In
    your case, US-IIIi is a single-core cpu, so each cpu listed has a single
    core. US-IV is a dual-core cpu, so each cpu listed has 2 cores.
