I have audit_trail=none but still get .aud files in the adump directory.


Is this expected behaviour?

    Yes, it is the audit trail for those SYS connections. Check the
    AUDIT_SYS_OPERATIONS init.ora parameter

    Even if you don't have audit_sys_operations set, oracle still writes certain
    operations into .aud files (shutdown, startup).
