FAQ
Hi all:

I tried to start monitoring an index via:

alter index OWNER.INDEX monitoring usage;
Then I queried the v$object_usage view expecting
to see a row there for the INDEX, but the view was
empty. Does anyone see what I'm doing wrong here?

thanks

Gene

    Are you connected as the index owner? IIRC, you need to do that to see
    anything in V$OBJECT_USAGE.

    IMHO v$object_usage is user specific ... log in as the owner of the index.

    In the docs, under prequisites for 'alter index'

    To execute the MONITORING USAGE clause, the index must be in your own schema.
