FAQ
Hi List,

I have two tables by name Allotment and Allot_flights in which
Allotment is the parent table and Allot_Flights is the child table. Flat
file data has to be loaded into these tables. The flat file data comes in
the form of .CSV files. These tables are related in such a way that for
every record of Allotment table there can be one or more records in
Allot_Flights table. The flat file data format is that for one record of
allotment table one or more records of allot_flights table appear in a
single row with each value separated by comma and the no. of records in
allot_flights for a record in allotment table might vary. Hence it is not a
fixed-length format data. In such a case what parsing logic should I use to
load the data into a temp table (in denormalized form) and then into the
actual tables? Is it possible to do the same through UNIX shell scripts?
Or is there any other way in SQL* Loader to do this? If so, please let me
know the same. Any help in this regard is very much appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Ranganath
