FAQ
What's the state of the union re: notification modules for D7? Here's what
I could find so far:

*Notify - http://drupal.org/project/notify - abandoned, no stable D7 release
*Notifications - http://drupal.org/project/notifications - Seeking
maintainer, no stable D7 release (alpha), depends on Messaging Framework -
http://drupal.org/project/messaging - which is not active (no release for a
year)
*Subscriptions - http://drupal.org/project/subscriptions - somewhat active,
D7 beta

What are people using for D7?

You should ask on the support list. This isn't about development.

I'm glad to hear you think so even sarcastically. It is still a
support issue since this doesn't involve development even for or with
Drupal. It is most definitely a use question. A list named
development should remain one about development even though the core
developers have abandoned it because it was misused. See
    http://drupal.org/support, http://drupal.org/community and
    http://drupal.org/mailing-lists.

Just an FYI, Earnie, in case you don't know Domenic, he is a Drupal Developer and was asking in a developer's capacity so that he could focus his future efforts on what the rest of our developer community is doing. As Domenic is a rocking' Drupal Profiles guru, among other things, I think we should all help to steer him in the direction we want him to go so that we can benefit from his code. Or steal it, like I do. ;)

And personally, I like the direction he chose with Rules + Flag. The other frameworks are quite useful for user activity streams (/hattip Domenic) and the like, but they get heavy real fast.

Hopefully everyone on this list is a "Drupal Developer" of some sort.
The question had nothing to do with development. Real core developers
have long abandoned this list due to its misuse. I was pointing out
that the original mail was a use question, it had nothing at all to do
with development of or with Drupal.

And how is this _use_ of Drupal modules a _development_ of code issue?

"Real" drupal developers have abandoned this list for many reasons,
including excessive scolding over picayune details.

    Enough already.

Domenic's question was one I had been asking myself a day or two before he
posted it to the list. We had been contemplating some development around
    this module in D7.

    Cheers,

    Bill

Typically, support@ is used for questions like this, not development@ since it is, historically, used for development of Drupal Core itself, not modules or using modules to create a Drupal site. The question is answered, so all is well.

    Happy Friday!
