I also tried that but still don't work for me even mine us a test cluster but now I am not able to run any third even has dfs -ls / is not working.

I didn't have a solution for this and since nobody replied I nuked the all HBase service + the zookeeper service and started again from the beginning.
since I am testing on a small dev cluster, it wasn't too much of a problem for me.
