FAQ
Hi, I'm trying to use sqoop2 on my CDH 4.3.0-1.cdh4.3.0.p0.22 which was
installed by CM4.3

I can see there is dir sqoop2 on /opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/lib and also
can see the execute file sqoop-server&sqoop2
in /opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/bin

But when I use the command like : " /opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/bin/sqoop2-server
start " then " /opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/bin/sqoop2 " and " show version
--all"

it return the error following below:

Exception has occurred during processing command
Exception: com.sun.jersey.api.client.UniformInterfaceException Message: GET
http://localhost:12000/sqoop/version returned a response status of 404 Not
Found

It seems like I never really start the server, but I don't know where can I
configure the related file

Does anyone have the complete tutorial for installing sqoop2 with CM4.3??

Btw,
Here is the output when I issue the start command:
---
arvin@hadoop1:/opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/bin$ sudo ./sqoop2-server start

and here is the logs in /var/log/sqoop2

    Hi Arvin,

Did you try adding the Sqoop service through Cloudera Manager? This will
let you run a Sqoop2 server.

    Thanks,
    Darren

    Hi Darren,

I’ve already tried to add Sqoop service through Cloudera Manager, but somehow there is no “Sqoop2” service in the list could let me choose.

How can I add this on?

    Hi Arvin,

The Sqoop service is "Sqoop2". Sqoop1 has no daemon process to manage (it's
basically a set of client libraries), only Sqoop2 does.

    Thanks,
    Darren

    Hi Darren,

I think I didn’t say it clearly, what I mean is when I want to add service through Cloudera Manager, it turns out no sqoop2 on the service list that I could choose, so I can’t add sqoop2 service through Cloudera Manger.

but I do find the sqoop2 folder in /opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/lib.

Does it mean the sqoop2 is already installed? or I still need to do some configuration?

    Thanks for your help.

Please upgrade your Cloudera Manager to 4.6 or later for running sqoop2 from CM.

    Hi Vikram,

If I don't want to upgrade to 4.6 or later, can't I just install sqoop2
through tar ball or something else?
If I can, then how to do it?? I have seen the installation guide on
cloudera official site but still doesn't understand how to configure it.

Please upgrade your Cloudera Manager to 4.6 or later for running sqoop2
    from CM.

I would recommend that you upgrade your Cloudera Manager to the latest
version to get sqoop2 support (please note that you DO NOT need to upgrade
CDH). This would allow you to manage sqoop2 just like all other hadoop
services and simplify things a lot for you. If you have any upgrade related
    questions, please let us know.
