Hi All,

I am using latest versions of Cloudera manager and Impala. Added services
like hdfs, mapreduce, oozie, hue and hive in the admin console and all
these services are started. But when I added Impala and tried to start it,
error throws, "Service did not start successfully; not all of the required
roles started: The state store is not running." I am using a cluster with 2
hosts and Impala state store is in master.
When I looked at the details logs, "[Errno 2] No such file or directory:
'/var/log/statestore/statestored.INFO'" and "[Errno 2] No such file or
directory: '/var/log/impalad/impalad.INFO'" are shown in the master as well
as slave. When I created the directories manually and assigned
ownership(impala:impala) and permissions(777), the "no such file or
directory" error disappears but the former error persists.

Can somebody please help..

    Hi Vinuraj,

    What about statestore daemon. Is it running? Can you click over "Instances"
    tab of Impala service and check if a "statestore" role is present?

    Thank you for your quick reply.

    The "statestore " role is defined under master but it is not running. Tried
    to start "statestore" daemon alone, but this also throws the same error.

    Hi Vinuraj,

    The error you mentioned for Impalad was: "Service did not start
    successfully; not all of the required roles started: The state store is not
    running."

    Impalad throws this error when its not able to connect to a statestore. In
    your setup for some reason statestore isn't coming up. And the reason for
    it not coming up is going to be different than not able to connect to
    statestore. Not sure what you mean by "it throws same error".

    If you are not able to access logs, try starting statestore directly by
    logging on the host (i.e w/o using CM) and check what it reports there.
