FAQ
Hi,

In Cloudera v4.6.2, I noticed these two are checked by default.

HDFS
Monitoring
Service-Wide
Standby NameNode Health Check

HBase
Monitoring
Service-Wide
Backup Masters Health Check

Does this mandates to have a standby namenode and standby hbase master ?
Would it also changes the basic topology from 1(nn)+3(dn) to
1(nn)+3(dn)+1(standby nn+hbase master) ?!

Thanking you, in advance.

Regards
Sree

It is not mandatory, but it is recommended.

The checks should be enabled by default, so they activate when you add
in such a role automatically, but should not fire by default if there
are no such roles. Are you noticing otherwise?

Yes. The checks are enabled by default as you said and active, too.
It was painfully unproductive to find them, research and disable them.

CM/CDH distribution is growing fat like an elephant.
It is hadoop, you know ;-) LOL!

    Thanks
