FAQ
Hi,

I have added Flume as a service on Cloudera Manager. I added the config
file and whenever I try to start the service I get the following error:

Command failed to start: com.cloudera.cmf.service.config.ConfigGenException: Unable to generate config file flume.conf for role with type AGENT: null

Could someone please tell me what exactly I am missing ? I have checked the
conf files on my localhost and they are working fine.

Thanks
Amar

    Hi Amar,

Do you have any validation errors for any services? Which version of
    Cloudera Manager are you using?

Can you take a look for a relevant stack trace with a similar message in
    /var/log/cloudera-scm-server/cloudera-scm-server.log and paste it here?
Every time you see this message in the UI, where should be a stack trace
    logged in that file.

    Thanks,
    Darren

    Hi Darren,

    Thanks for the reply.

I was finally able to get it done. Actually I was copying the conf file
(which was perfectly working in localhost) into the cloudera manager conf
window and it has a particular syntax. For example the following
    declaration:
    "agent_foo.channel-1.transactionCapacity 100" : was working fine in
localhost but when copied to cloudera manager it was causing an error.

    When I changed it "agent_foo.channel-1.transactionCapacity = 100", it
    worked fine work me.

    Thanks
    Amar
