FAQ
Hi,

I installed Hue on a node I decommissioned, so I moved it to a new node.
But I'm not able to start it anymore. I get the error below on the
interface.

I tried to look in the logs but I'm not able to find any Hue log on the
node.

Start this Beeswax Server beeswax_server (node2) Jun 24, 2013
8:59:34 PM EDT Finished , Jun 24, 2013 8:59:34 PM EDT

Command failed to start:
com.cloudera.cmf.service.config.ConfigGenException: Unable to generate
config file hue.ini for role with type BEESWAX_SERVER: Unknown role HDFS
Web Interface Role

Start this Hue Server hue_server (node2) Jun 24, 2013 8:59:33 PM
EDT Finished , Jun 24, 2013 8:59:33 PM EDT

Command failed to start:
com.cloudera.cmf.service.config.ConfigGenException: Unable to generate
config file hue.ini for role with type HUE_SERVER: Unknown role HDFS Web
Interface Role

When I looked at the web interface I have those roles:
Beeswax Server (Default) for the Beeswax_server and
Hue Server (Default) for the hue_server

Any idea where I should start to look at?

Thanks,

JM

Look in your Hue's config for a HDFS role selector. It may not be set
to anything, so you'll have to set it to either one of the NameNodes
(the active one) for WebHDFS or to a HTTPFS role (recommended for HA
    setup).

    Excellent!

    thanks Harsh.

In the configuration, there is a "HDFS Web Interface Role" setting which
was not pointing to any node. I just had to select the only possible option
and restart, and now everything is running A1 ;)

    Thanks for your prompt reply.
