FAQ
Hi,

I have Installed CM 4.5, all my installation was successful but getting the
below error:

Installation failed. Failed to receive heartbeat from agent.

    - Ensure that the host's hostname is configured properly.
    - Ensure that port 7182 is accessible on the Cloudera Manager server
    (check firewall rules).
    - Ensure that ports 9000 and 9001 are free on the host being added.
    - Check agent logs in /var/log/cloudera-scm-agent/ on the host being
added (some of the logs can be found in the installation details).

I know many threads on this topic, but nothing helped me out to solve the
issue.

here is my host

127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.10 padhu

    Hi Padhu,

Can you try these steps, in /etc/hosts use FQDN eg 192.168.1.10
    padhu.domain.test padhu
and in your shell, you get a output from these these simple commands $
    hostname -a and $ hostname -f

During installation (in the CM web UI) use your hostname or machine IP (ie.
padhu or 192.168.1.10) and _not_ 'localhost' or 127.0.0.1

    Regards,

    Michalis

    Michalis,

Thanks a lot! It is working now..... your solution is awesome.

I was facing this issue since last two weeks and I googled but nothing
helped. My suggestion is that many of them might face the same issue or
    different,
it will be better to add these kind of issues in a FAQ and put together in
the Cloudera Manager Installation Guide. This will help many people.

    Thanks again!
    Padhu
