FAQ
In my production cluster the core-site.xml has the following parameters
that I DON'T want...
How do I remove them using Cloudera Manager

<property>
<name>hadoop.security.authentication</name>
<value>simple</value>
</property>

<property>
<name>hadoop.rpc.protection</name>
<value>authentication</value>
</property>

<property>
<name>hadoop.security.auth_to_local</name>
<value>DEFAULT</value>
</property>

thanks

    Hi Sanjay,

    Do you know if your administrator or you have set any of these? Are
    you seeing this on your client's core-site.xml?

    Sanjay,

    When hadoop.security.authentication is set to "simple", the other two configs don't do anything. Also "simple" is the default value for hadoop.security.authentication, so even if you don't have it in your core-site, Hadoop will automatically set it to simple.

    Are you facing some problems if these configs are present?

    This is good to know although an elaboration in the hadoop documentation
    would be nice.
    How do you know this for a fact ? Is there a a place in the code one can
    check and verify that this is so

    We will start heavy-loading the cluster today, I wanted to make sure we are
    not facing issues based on this

    thanks
