I would like to add a property to core-site.xml file for hdfs service. How
can I do that?

I have tried editing file in /etc/hadoop/conf/ but that doesn't have an
effect on the service.
Are you using Cloudera Manager? Otherwise (and hopefully not a stupid
question), have you restarted the services?

Thanks,

Tom

    Hi Laxman,

What properties are you trying to add to core-site? It's possible that CM
already provides the ability to configure these.

Please use the HDFS configuration "Cluster-wide Configuration Safety Valve
for core-site.xml" to make custom changes to core-site for any properties
not supported in the CM UI.

    thanks,
    Darren

The safety valve for core-site.xml is available since CM 4.5.0.
Sanjay, perhaps you have an earlier version of CM?
Sanjay and Laxman, what configs are you trying to use? As Darren pointed
out, it is possible that CM already manages these configs and/or these
configs are present in another config file such as hdfs-site.xml.
