FAQ
Greetings,
I installed CDH 4.2 cluster via Cloudera Manager 4.5. All works fine, but I
cant figure out how to install HCatalog and WebHCat-Server, since there're
no such options in CM.
I can install HCatalog using "yum install webhcat-server", but it's gonna
download and install 200 MB of dependencies, including hadoop. I'm afraid
that might lead to crush of existing hadoop cluster.
What should I do?

Thanks for help.

    Hi,

Cloudera Manager doesn't currently manage the webHCat server - this is
something we will be adding in a future version.
I would recommend that you do "yum install webhcat-server". Yes, it will
install a bunch of dependencies, but these won't
affect the services being run by Cloudera Manager.

Please also note that hcatalog server is not supported in CDH, but you can
use the hcatalog CLI in CM 4.5 on any machine with deployed client configs
for Hive (it'll talk to the Hive Metastore Server). You can use Hive
gateway instances to make sure client configs get deployed to the machine
    you want.

    Thanks,
    Darren
