FAQ
Hi
I am trying to install Cloudera Manager on my laptop (single machine
installation) on Ubuntu 12.04 . CDH version being installed is
CDH-4.2.0-1.cdh4.2.0.p0.10
During the installation at "Step 3: Use Cloudera Manager for Automated CDH
Installation and Configuration" I am facing problem while trying to connect
through SSH.
I have a user who is part of the sudo user group. When I try to execute the
command like "ssh [email protected]" from terminal or using Putty SSH
Client, I am able to login without being asked for password.
But during CM installation I am getting a message after creating temp
directory, "Installation failed. Failed to detect root privileges"
the details of the message shows like this (some initial lines not
mentioned here).
"Sorry, try again. sudo: 3 incorrect password attempts
END (1)
need root privileges but sudo requires password, exiting
closing logging file descriptor "

During the installation I am providing a user name (not root user) and I am
using authentication method "all hosts accept same password" and I am
entering the password.
How to resolve this issue. Please help
Thank you.

    Hi,

CM requires you to provide the login for a root user or a user with
passwordless sudo. It looks like your user requires a password for sudo,
    resulting in this error.

    Thanks,
    Darren
