FAQ
Hi,

I am trying to set up a cluster with few instances.

I had 2 questions :

1) How to start Cloudera Manager free Edition for EC2 in different avail
zone. Currently it defaults to a value.

2) I don't want to install all other frameowrks such as hive, oozie etc. Is
there a way to achieve that. ( Pre-configure in someway )

I am using the web interface controlled way of setting up the instances.

Any pointers will be helpful.

Thanks,
Abhinav

    Hi Abhinav,
    1) For availability zones: you can choose the availability zone for the
master instance in the EC2 web console "Launch Instance" wizard (screenshot
attached). However, Cloudera Manager will launch the new instances in the
same region, but not necessarily in the same availability zone.

    2) Currently, the Cloud Express Wizard can only install all services. You
can remove the services you don't need once the cluster is setup.

    thanks,
