How to find my cluster cdh version.

root@dvc122:/usr/lib/hadoop/cloudera# cat cdh_version.properties

# Autogenerated build properties
version=2.0.0-cdh4.0.1
git.hash=4d98eb718ec0cce78a00f292928c5ab6e1b84695
cloudera.hash=4d98eb718ec0cce78a00f292928c5ab6e1b84695
cloudera.base-branch=cdh4-base-2.0.0
cloudera.build-branch=cdh4-2.0.0_4.0.1
cloudera.pkg.version=2.0.0+91
cloudera.pkg.release=1.cdh4.0.1.p0.1
cloudera.cdh.release=cdh4.0.1
cloudera.build.time=2012.06.29-00:02:48GMT

cloudera.pkg.name=hadoop

in my repository pointing to

root@dvc122:~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cloudera-cdh4.list
deb [arch=amd64] http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/ubuntu/precise/amd64/cdh/*
precise-cdh4 *contrib

precise-cdh4 means It will take latest version of cdh version hadoop
right.

my namenode hadoop version says:
hadoop version
Hadoop 2.0.0-cdh4.0.1

my others machines pointing to* precise-cdh4.0.1* version. little bit
confusing please guide me. We are using CM 4.0.4 (#79 built by jenkins on
20120821-1040 git:

    Hi Harsh

    But why my repo. pointing to precise-cdh4
    root@dvc122:~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cloudera-cdh4.list

    What is the confusion here exactly? The Hadoop version is
    "2.0.0-cdh4.0.1" which indicates that the CDH release you are using is
    based on the 2.0.0 Apache Hadoop release and the added patches along
    is tagged the version cdh4.0.1. Effectively, your "CDH" version would
    be CDH 4.0.1.

    For the machines pointing directly to "*precise-cdh4*" you are correct;
    Each time apt-get is updated (and assuming a newer version has become
    available since the last apt-get update) these machines will always be
    aware of the most current CDH packages within that code line.

    The systems that have "*precise-cdh4.0.1*" were likely manually pinned to
    that version. The way archive.cloudera.com is laid out, users can point
    their repository configuration to a specific directory and always be
    assured to have the latest versions available to their package management
    utility. OR if necessary, you can pin to a specific, exact version.

    See some examples of the specifics here :
    http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/ubuntu/precise/amd64/cdh/conf/distributions
    http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/ubuntu/precise/amd64/cdh/dists/

    tl;dr - You can have your package manager configured to point at either a
    specific repo version, or just the "latest" version.

    Because thats just the name of the repo. The "precise" refers to your
    Ubuntu release codename, and the "cdh4" to indicate its a repo for
    CDH4 packages.
