FAQ
I just installed CM 4.1 Free Edition. I thought I had read that Mahout was
bundled with 4.1 but it doesn't appear to be there. Am I just missing
something in the CM UI?

I assume not, so I'm looking at the Mahout installation instructions here<https://ccp.cloudera.com/display/CDH4DOC/Mahout+Installation>.
I'll have to install from a tarball (i assume) since i'm using Free edition
and thus have no access to the cloudera yum repos. But my major questions
are:

- Should I be doing this installation on the machine hosting CM? Or
should I install Mahout per these instructions on just my namenode server?
- Once I install, does CM 4.1 Free Edition manage or provide any
services around Mahout? Do I have to do anythign to enable this?

thanks!

Ok ... It doesn't appear to be there, so I just installed it per the
instrux from my master node. Actually just used the yum approach and it
    worked like a charm.

Still wondering if CM 4.1 Free Edition provides any services around Mahout,
    though.

Mahout isn't installed or managed by Cloudera Manager. Installing with your
package manager is the right way to move forward with this, yes.
