FAQ
Hi,
I had 2 nodes and added 3 rd node using CM "add hosts". The map/r versions
are little different.
third node:
MapReduce 1 (CDH4 only) CDH4 0.20.2+1261
MapReduce 2 (CDH4 only) CDH4 2.0.0+545

first 2 nodes:
MapReduce 1 (CDH4 only) CDH4 0.20.2+1259
MapReduce 2 (CDH4 only) CDH4 2.0.0+541

I get following error regarding "bad health"
January 9 2013 5:36 AM INFO org.mortbay.log
Started selectchannelconnector@0.0.0.0:50060
January 9 2013 5:36 AM INFO org.apache.hadoop.mapred.TaskTracker
FILE_CACHE_SIZE for mapOutputServlet set to : 2000
January 9 2013 5:36 AM FATAL org.apache.hadoop.mapred.TaskTracker
Shutting down.* Incompatible buildVersion.*
JobTracker's: 2.0.0-mr1-cdh4.1.0 from Unknown by jenkins source checksum

TaskTracker's: 2.0.0-mr1-cdh4.1.1 from Unknown by jenkins source checksum
13b2ddd073c23717dca97896b326da53 and hadoop.relaxed.worker.version.check is
enabled
January 9 2013 5:36 AM INFO
org.apache.hadoop.util.AsyncDiskService
Shutting down all AsyncDiskService threads...

On 3 rd node datanode is running including hbase.
Please, advise how can I get map/r started.

It seems likely that when you installed the first two nodes, the newest
files in the repository were one version newer than the first two nodes.

This happens because the CDH repo file that your package manager uses is
probably pointed at a source like this:

    http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/redhat/6/x86_64/cdh*/4/*

the /4/ at the end always points at the *newest* CDH bits. So if you
install two nodes a month ago, then one today, they'll potentially get
different versions. Previous versions would remain in place at a location
    like

    http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/redhat/6/x86_64/cdh/4.1.1/
    http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/redhat/6/x86_64/cdh/4.1.0/
    etc

For what it's worth, your newest node got CDH 4.1.1 and the two other nodes
    have CDH4.1.0 bits installed.

You can either upgrade the two, or downgrade the one. Use your systems
package management tools (yum, etc) to perform this manually and you should
    be fine.

For the future, you can "pin" your repositories to ensure that any new
nodes get the exact version you expect, to match those already in place.

    Regards,
