Hi,

Please help me on the below error..
I am not able create any database on hive metastore..do I need to be
"hdfs" user or equivalent privileges to access hive..

su - cr909c
[cr909c@edge003 ~]$ hive
Logging initialized using configuration in
file:/etc/hive/conf.dist/hive-log4j.properties
Hive history file=/tmp/cr909c/hive_job_log_cr909c_201211201517_1804396811.txt
hive> show tables;
OK

hive> create database test3

org.apache.hadoop.security.AccessControlException Permission denied:

at org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.server.namenode.FSPermissionChecker.check(FSPermissionChecker.java:205)

    You need to be logged in as hdfs.

    Yes..it is working if I logged in as hdfs..but I need to provide the
    access to users in my cluster. I can not give sudo access on hdfs
    account for users. is there any other way.

    You will need to change the permissions on the directories for hive.
    You should create a group and assign users to that..
