FAQ
Hi,
I am in the test/research phase of a Cloudera deployment. I was under the
impression that CDH4 was not recommended on a production setup. Is this
true?

    Hi,

Yes CDH4 is fully supported for production environments and we have
users/customers using it in such environments as well.

A specific sub-component of CDH4, called MR2 (which is based on YARN)
is currently not recommended for production environments as it may not
be adequately stable for such purposes.

For this, we recommend using the MR1 (Similar to the MR platform CDH3
offered) component until MR2 stabilizes. We provide
inter-compatibility between apps written for either version of MR,
such that if you compile your jobs today for MR1, you can run them on
MR2 later without requiring a recompilation.

    Does this clear your doubt?

It does indeed Harsh J-thanks. It may have been MR2 I was thinking of.

    Cheers,
