    Hi Mike,

CM doesn't support the HBase thrift server today. We're adding that (and
REST server support) in a future release.

But I ran the below and it started ok. You mean it cannot be started from
    CM web screen.
    hbase thrift start

    Thanks

Yes its not currently (as of CM 4.0.x) manage-able via CM. Until it
gets integrated, you can instead install the CDH4 "hbase-thrift" or
CDH3 "hadoop-hbase-thrift" packages and run it as a Linux service via
    "service hbase-thrift start" (CDH4) or "service hadoop-hbase-thrift
    start".

    Does this help?

    Harsh,

I tried to run "service hbase-thrift start"

    It say "hbase-thrift: unrecognized service"

Do you a install steps to install CDH4 "hbase-thirft"?

    Thanks
