FAQ
Just a requirements question here: does Impala support other Filesystems,
like S3, by changing the default FS, or must all data for impala be stored
on HDFS?

Thanks!

Can Impala be made to work with S3 or other file systems, or does it
inherently require something specific about HDFS and HBase. I understand
if no commercial support is offered for alternatives, but I'd like to
    understand if it's possible. Thanks!

It could in theory, but we don't have any plans at this point to add S3 support.
