FAQ
I have installed Cloudera Manager 4.2.1 with impala 0.7. I wanted to
upgrade to impala 1.0, it seems it runs only on Cloudera Manager 4.5.2. I
have upgraded CM as per document
http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera-content/cloudera-docs/CM4Free/latest/Cloudera-Manager-Free-Edition-Installation-Guide/cmfeig_topic_9_4.html

But I wasn't able to upgrade Impala. Tried per this document
http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera-content/cloudera-docs/Impala/latest/Installing-and-Using-Impala/ciiu_upgrading.html

In Initial installation I have used parcels, but upgrade steps recommending
to use yum update impala, It is not working well.

I have setup impala repository for 1.0, installed impala-server and
installed impala-shell. But I still see old daemons are running.

I would like to cleanup .7 impala, and install 1.0. what would be the
best way to do it?

Thanks
Mani.

    Hi Mani,

If you used parcels, you don't have to use yum repo. You should get rid of
    the packages installed using yum.

Once you have setup that only has parcel, you should try to upgrade to new
1.0 parcel. This can be done by going to the "parcel" page (click over the
"gift box" item at the top bar") and then deactivating older parcel and
    activating newer one.

When you say "But I wasn't able to upgrade Impala", what happened? Also,
the doc link for upgrade doesn't have upgrade scenario for Parcels (we will
    get that updated).

I had new repository in place. Problem solved this way.

    1. Stopped and removed Impala service.
    2. I removed parcel Impala 0.7 from host -> parcel tab.
    3. Added Impala service and started.
    4. Connected to impala-shell.

    Looks good now.

    Thanks
    Mani.

    Hi Mani,

Also, the parcel url has changed from beta.cloudera.com to
archive.cloudera.com. You may have to add the "
http://archive.cloudera.com/impala/parcels/" to the list of Parcel
repository for the new 1.0 Impala Parcels to appear (In CM UI, go to
    Admin->Properties->Parcels->Remote Parcel Repository URLs ).
