    Just to let everybody know about Cloudera's plans for jdbc going
    forward (some of which was divulged in the roadmap blogpost of a few
    weeks ago: http://blog.cloudera.com/blog/2012/12/whats-next-for-cloudera-impala/):

    - Cloudera is planning on releasing a jdbc driver that works with
    Impala. The blogpost generally indicated that this would be available
    in GA; we're actually expecting this to come in as part of a beta
    refresh sometime in February (but no promises).
    - This jdbc driver will be shared with Hive, and it will be based on
    Impala supporting the HiveServer2 Thrift interface. Please note that
    support for the current Beeswax Thrift interface will be dropped at
    some point in the future, very likely with the switch to HiveServer2.

    Please let the user list know if you have any more questions.

    Maybe in future Cloudera plans to switch to the HiveServer2 interface. But
    currently, as in version 0.4 of impala, the server implements an extended
    beeswax api.
    So at this moment the hive2 jdbc driver does not work against an impala
    daemon.

    You hinted that a JDBC driver might be made available as part of an Impala
    beta refresh in February. It's now almost April. Do you think it will be
