Hi, I have a question. Is Hue by default configured to execute Hive
queries? So we have to change the configuration to execute Impala queries?

Hi Harish,

May I ask you to please try this instead:

Add the same config:

[beeswax]
beeswax_server_host=<impalad-**host>
beeswax_server_port=21000

to the section

Hue > Hue Server > Advanced > Configuration Safety Valve for Hue Server

(not to the Service-Wide config)

And then restart Hue / Beeswax and try again?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi,

I've installed & configured Impala. It works perfectly fine using
Impala-shell.

But when I run the same hive query using Beeswax application, it runs as
a map reduce job.

http://<hostname>:8888/

As per the instructions, I did setup i.e add the below two lines to the
Hue configuration (Service wide -> Advanced -> Hue Service Configuration
Safety Valve)

beeswax_server_host=<hostname>
beeswax_server_port=21000

Am I missing something here ?

Harish

    Ok. If Hue is above 2.2, how does it know that it has to connect to impala
    for query execution?

    Above 2.2, Hue as a dedicated property for specifying which Impalad to talk
    too:
    https://github.com/cloudera/hue/blob/master/desktop/conf.dist/hue.ini#L468and
    then use the Impala app

    Below 2.2, the same impalad URL and port needs to be specified in Beeswax:
    https://github.com/cloudera/hue/blob/master/desktop/conf.dist/hue.ini#L391and
    then use the Beeswax app (of course you can't submit Hive queries
    anymore)
