FAQ
Hi,

I am trying to integrate pig script editor in cloudera hue 2.1 but it's not
working for me,

Steps i followed:

1. cp pig script folder to apps directory
2. register app
   ./build/env/bin/python tools/app_reg/app_reg.py --install apps/pig/ 3.
build hue and sync database with
make apps

Now after this i could see pig script editor, but when i click it , i get *"Server
Error 500" *and looking into logs i am getting *"No desktop_app known for
request"*.
Please let me know if i am missing something.

Regards,
Pawan

    Hi Pawan,
    there were quite a few changes from Hue 2.1 to Hue 2.3 so it's more likely that just porting the Pig app won't work.
    Isn't a complete upgrade of Hue an option in your case?

    Thanks,
    Enrico

    Hi Enrico,

    I could not upgrade complete hue right now, as i have some customization,
    and re-integrating with hue 2.3 will take time.
    It'll be helpful if you could tell me integration steps, or any upgrades i
    am missing to get it running.

    Hi Pawan,
    it would probably be faster porting your customizations to 2.3 rather than patching 2.1 all the way up to have Pig running. Can you paste the http 500 stacktrace here?
    And: is your custom code something that could be useful to other people as well? If so, would you be interested in sharing it with the Hue community?

    Thanks,
    e.

    What kind of customizations have you done? Is there any ways we can improve

    Currently you need to put a line like this in the top of the Pig script:

    SET mapred.job.queue.name my_name;

    (it works for any Hadoop properties)

    In the future it will be easier to set it in the properties of the script:
    https://issues.cloudera.org/browse/HUE-1135

    Hi Roman,

    I am running something like this:

    set mapred.job.queue.name=queue1;
    a = load '/user/pasingh/export/export.cs' as (id);
    c = filter a by id < '3';
    store c into '/user/pasingh/export/filter.csv';

    While looking into the oozie job logs i could see string like "User can not
    perform operation SUBMIT_JOB on queue default"

    Regards,
    Pawan

    Maybe it is failing at the launcher level, not in the Pig script. It won't
    work without https://issues.cloudera.org/browse/HUE-1135 (or Oozie would
    need to submit to this queue only).
