Hi Romit,
It's not necessary, but if you have a filer easily available, it might
still be a good idea to add it as an extra redundant copy, since many
filers will give you nice features like automatic snapshots of the
metadata, etc.
If you don't have one available, don't worry about it: many of our
customers are now running filer-free.
