FAQ
Hi Experts,

When configuring high availability using Quorum based storage, Is it still
recommended to configure a remote directory along with a local directory
for storing the namenode meta data on a production cluster.

The version of hadoop used is cdh4.1.1.

Thanks,
Romit

    Hi Romit,

It's not necessary, but if you have a filer easily available, it might
still be a good idea to add it as an extra redundant copy, since many
filers will give you nice features like automatic snapshots of the
    metadata, etc.

If you don't have one available, don't worry about it: many of our
    customers are now running filer-free.
