There are no C99 capable compilers available for OpenVMS VAX that I am
aware of.
Which seems to make Jarkko's recent enthusiasm for C++ all the more
understandable. It seems we are more likely to find a C++ compiler
that is up-to-date than a C99 compiler.

Even if we only use it as a better-C-compiler...
