FAQ
Hi,

I'm wondering what's the best approach to build a configuration file on a
specific server (i.e. minion) that's populated with data based on settings
(i.e. pillar data) from other minons.

Specifically, I'm considering a configuration file with all servers and
their settings to feed that to a script that adds minions to librenms.

config file:

minion-ip-or-fqdn,read-only-cs,snmp-version
foo1.example.com,pubic,v2c
foo2.example.com,pubic,v2c

I guess that this would normally be done with events/calls sent back from
the minions (e.g. via runners). But that looks to me as inefficient
resources usage. I'd rather have some file that's updated directly on the
master itself. Another option would be to cross-run a command on the
librenms minon when another minion is highstated and need to be added to
the config. However, I don't think that's possible.
