Thanks, yes. I (now) appreciate that it isn't supported. What surprised me
was the failure mode. (Compile without error, runtime type assertion
failure following refactoring some code from one package to another).

If symlinks are declared to be 'never use' from GOPATH, would a patch to
make the go tool complain if it ever loads a local file via a symlink be
welcome? Or is there a concern that checking would hurt build-time
performance?
