Hi Harsh,

With no intention of hijacking thread, since Hive and Pig are client-end
program, does that mean we can update them to the latest version without
affecting anything with the CM. If that is right, is there any upgrade

Hi Jon,

After setting up the agent and services on the machine, you should
find Hive and Pig packages already installed by Cloudera Manager. You
can go right ahead and type "pig" or "hive" to start them up.

The Hive and Pig programs are client-end programs that require no
"managing" from Cloudera Manager to have a part in its UI (i.e. no
real services to maintain) so you'll have to manually configure and
tune them. Some level of support for Hive's centralized services may
appear in a future version of CM, but currently it just treats it like
a client lib.

Does this help?

If I'm running CM4.0 free edition on a 1-node cluster , is there an easy way
using the web GUI to deploy Hive and Pig on that node as well (as long as
there's enough memory)?

If it's not possible using the web GUI, what other way is there to install
both of them on the 1-node?
